[3] Real-time Virtual 3D Engineering at Coventry University

UK University students are among a select few in the world
to have the capability to actively design in 3D using
Virtual Reality (VR). Coventry University has taken delivery
of a small passive 3D stereo system earlier in the year and
has now a large-scale active 3D stereo system installed
for a 150-seat lecture theatre. Both systems were designed
and supplied by Virtalis, Europe's foremost Virtual
Reality and Visualisation company.

[4] Free reference guide to shaft guidance systems now available

Schaeffler UK has just published a free reference guide to
its range of shaft guidance systems. The 175-page guide
includes linear bearings, shaft support blocks, rail
guidance units and housing units. As well as providing
technical data on individual products, the guide also
includes useful information on load carrying capacities,
friction, lubrication, design of bearing arrangements,
operating clearances or the fitting of shaft guidance
systems.

cause of noise vibrations in their new prototype
transmission, or how using Maplesoft tools can help reduce
design and simulation time in the development process from
months to just a few weeks. Download our 'Maths Matters'
brochure and find more about Maplesoft solutions for

[8] Bigger brother is watching

ifm electronic Ltd launches more longer range photoelectric
devices at budget prices. Sensor market leader ifm
electronic Ltd has added to last year's new O4 range of
photocells with the more sophisticated PerformanceLine
versions. Aimed typically at conveying and general materials
handling applications the O4 family already boasts long
ranges, but these are now complemented by versions with
pushbutton setting for accurate adjustment. Not only that,
but the new members of the O4 family feature light/dark
programming in addition to even longer ranges.
