Hey Shanghai

How U doin? Yeah? That's awesome. That just awesome, dude.

Hey, I know you like the Shanghai club gossip and it's a good week for that. Check it: Pegasus is reopening. Oh wait that's, PEGASUS IS REOPENING!!!! If you're an old Shanghai war horse, that's a big deal. I'm sure as soon as you read that you instantly flashed back to the good old days of Shanghai pre 2005, and then wistfully glanced over at your Shanghainese wife and the baby in her arms. And then let out a big siiiiiiggghhhh.

You met her at the Ice T concert, remember?

The venue, located in Huaihai Lu in the Golden Bell Plaza had a brief incarnation as "Moments," and that was open for ... well .... moments. Anyways, the venue is being reworked as "Caribbean" or something like that, and the man behind it is Andrew Ballen - the man behind the packed Thursday night parties at Pegasus (along with your favourite ranking member of the Shanghai navy), as well as the Beach Honey thing at Bonbon.

If I was the guy who started Beach Honeys, I'd just lead with that every time I met someone: "Hey, I invented the whole Beach Honeys thing. Yeah, that was me. You're welcome."

Speaking of Beach Honeys, Guandii is scheduled to reopened in June. I heard they were putting in a swimming pool or something. I don't really get it. The chicks there wearing bikinis aren't wearing them to go swimming - unless it's in mediocrity! Hah! Just kidding, all you lovely hip hop hunnies!

Other rumours are that Muse is planing a THIRD club called ... wait for it ... M3. And BRB is closed for renovations. LMAO, BRB.

Also, yesterday I headed down to check out the new Windows location - Tembo is moving to a bigger and better location and renaming to Windows Underground - and I can report back with confidence that it's going to be real good. Capacity is larger - it's like a giant square basement thing - they're doing the sound system up right, putting in a mid-sized stage, and already they're putting together a good line up of live shows -- including Get in the Van 2 in early June. It opens May 31, so keep tabs on what Brad et al. are up to down there if live rock is your thing.

Anyways this weekend looks good, and you should really go out and get it all in before Shanghai becomes a wasteland for the summer. Really, it's a wasteland. Have you ever seen a solitary drunk Frenchman despondently roaming the streets asking people where "ze party" is at? It's sad, man. Real sad.

A new club called "First" is opening this weekend on the Bund at No.1 Yan 'an Lu near Zhongshan Dong er lu. They're calling it an after-hours joint but I don't know too much about this one. Head one down to "Lady Marmalade," their opening party tonight if you can be shagged to do so.

Also on tonight is Bonitos grand opening, the Spanish restaurant in the Loft. G Plus has Hernen Cattaneo, Sugar relaunches their Friday party, subtly called "The Friday Party," and MAO has minimal therapy, which I hear is pretty good. Saturday is Antidote at The Shelter (and don't forget Cut Chemist next week), the Pangea Day Film Festival, Acid Pony Club at MAO, and Beats Spectacular at Anar.

Scroll down for more event details, son.

But first check THIS out: they're making a sequel to Dances with Wolves - I know, WTF. Kevin Costner passed on it and now Viggo Mortensen is staring in it. Guess Kev had better things to do ... like sucking. Oh, I'm such a bitch!

Rollin' in my 5.0, with my rag-top down so my hair can blow,

Da Admiral

Joke of the week

A salesman from KFC walked up to the Pope and offers him a million dollars if he would change "The Lord's Prayer" from "give us this day our daily bread" to "give us this day our daily chicken." The Pope refused his offer.

Two weeks later, the man offered the pope 10 million dollars to change it from "give us this day our daily bread" to "give us this day our daily chicken" and again the Pope refused the man's generous offer. Another week later, the man offered the Pope 20 million dollars and finally the Pope accepted. The following day, the Pope said to all his officials, "I have some good news and some bad news. 'The good news is, that we have just received a check for 20 million dollars. The bad news is, we lost the Wonder Bread account!'''
