Gas prices driving transit ridership higher |
|
The pain at the pump is driving Oklahoma metros to become transit-friendly. Tulsa Transit is reporting an 8-percent increase in fixed-route ridership this year from last, according to William Cartwright, CEO and general manager for Tulsa
Transit. Larry Hopper, principal planner for Metro Transit, said Oklahoma City transit has also seen an increase in ridership over the past six months, specifically on their commuter express bus. |

Devon posts 15-percent increase in 1Q profits |
Devon Energy is seeking a repeat performance of a record year, and if the first quarter of this season is any indication, it's on its way to an encore. "Last year was the best in Devon history and our first quarter of this year was very
successful," said Devon Chairman and Chief Executive Officer J. Larry Nichols. He pointed to robust commodity prices and increased production as Devon reported a 15-percent increase in first-quarter profit.

Gov. Henry vows to veto newest tort reform measure |
Barely before the ink was dry on a significant tort reform bill the Legislature passed Wednesday, Gov. Brad Henry promised to veto the measure. The bill would reinstate certain provisions of a law struck down as unconstitutional in 2006.
