BioBlitz 2008 |
| Registration is open for BioBlitz 2008: Santa Monica National Recreation Area, May 30–31. You, your scout troop, school group, family, and friends can all join in this 24-hour species inventory in the Santa Monica Mountains. Alongside scientists, naturalists, and volunteers, you'll explore the 150,000-acre (60,703-hectare) park observing and recording as many living organisms as possible. National Geographic, the National Parks Service, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, and California State Parks collaborated to provide ongoing activities and lectures during this event that celebrates biodiversity. If California is not in your spring plans, download these educational resources to help you and your favorite junior scientists plan a bioblitz close to home. |

Teacher grants available from the National Environmental Education Foundation
To help provide teachers around the country with support for their innovative work to bring environmental education into the classroom, the National Environmental Education Foundation is launching the Classroom Earth National High School Challenge—an opportunity for up to 25 teachers to secure as much as $5,000 to $10,000 in funding to bring innovative environmental themes into their coursework.
