Simply Spring
By Shelley Comiskey

Hello everyone! Well, it’s May, and hopefully this means less rain, no snow, and actual flowers (I don’t think I’ve seen any yet—still too snowy here). However, while there hasn’t been much in the way of flowers, the ducks that live in the ponds near my house have returned. This morning as I was driving to work, I had to stop for a mother and her little troop of ducklings. They were so tiny! One was a bit of a straggler; its mother had to go back for it. It kept wandering in circles while is mother squawked impatiently. It added almost ten minutes to my morning commute, but I can’t really bring myself to care—in fact I’ve had the widest smile on my face all day.

Happy crafting!

Libby

Oven Burner Covers

Supplies:

Plain oven burner covers
Glue
Contact Paper
Hugware
HugWare You Could Use:
Scarecrows
Instructions:

Step 1. I measured the size of the burner covers and printed the PC Hug Club Graphics a half inch smaller on all sides than the burner cover measurements.
Step 2. I then attached them to the covers with a glue stick to keep them in place. Then I measured and cut clear contact paper just slightly larger than the graphic. This holds this adorable scarecrow graphic in place and makes it easy to clean. Just wipe with a damp cloth.

Step 3. Click here for full instructions, supplies, and to see how it turned out!

Top Tip:
When you use a template to cut out a shape, instead of using a pencil, draw around it with an embossing tool on an embossing mat (or try a piece of funky foam if you don't have a mat). Cutting in the valley of the embossed outline is easier and gives a more professional edge. Alternatively you can turn the shape over and cut outside the embossed line to get a raised edge effect which look equally effective. Last but not least, this way you wont have any stray pencil marks to rub out!

What I Have Learned:
I have learned that by using a background from a creatable to fill an AutoShape or WordArt, everything matches perfectly without running from store to store to find just the right paper to match my scrapbook page. I also find I don’t have to store stacks of different colored paper. I just buy white paper now. pcHugClub is great!

About:
My name is Nanc Kerkes and I'm a Title 1 teacher at a rural Montana public school. My career has been as an art director at various advertising agencies. I reached a point where I needed to slow down and became involved with my children's school which led to my 2nd year of teaching Title 1. I have concepted and created a website for an after-school activity and have relied on your clipart to create the masthead and all the illustrations which are changed on a monthly basis. I love the variety and quality of your illustrations. Even better, they fit my style of design which is a soft yet artistic approach.

In January I joined up as a pcHug member and I'm looking forward to a year of exciting challenges using your lovely art. Thanks for the great service!
