DESCRIPTION: Washington Co, NC's courthouse burned 3 times (the last
time in 1881) and only the deed books were saved. Linda Haas Davenport
has abstracted the 985 individual deeds found in Deed Books A-B-C. These
3 deed books officially cover the years 1799-1814, but many deeds from
earlier years are scattered throughout the books. Davenport has indexed
the hundreds of names found in these books in 4 indexes: Surnames,
Females, Slaves and Places.
