SHORT LINDSEY ROBERTSON INTERVIEW
|
|
Juice and the freshly painted Cadi.
|
This week Lindsey Robertson stopped by DC headquarters in San Diego, CA. While he was setting up a new board, we caught him for a few quick questions about banana cream Cadillac's, his new living situation, and random nicknames. (You can also see this interview at dcshoes.com by following this link).
What brings you to DC?
Today? I'm testing the new Gallant's out, then I'm going to rip Jimmy in a game of SKATE. It's my daily thing. You'll catch me at DC any day between 10 AM and 2 PM.
Are you going to go skate today?
No, I'm going to go skate this weekend in San Diego.
What type of stuff have you been trying to skate lately?
Mostly big. That's my focus. It's hard to find good stuff to skate. A lot of the stuff around here is either stuff from back in the day that you have to try something new on, or a lot of the good spots are gone.
Where do you think you're going to have to go to get those spots you need?
Europe or Russia. Russia has got to be the next spot.
Didn't you just move into a new house?
Yeah, a new apartment in Carlsbad like five blocks from downtown. It's mad chill. When I roll down the street people holler at me from cars at stuff.
Are there spots by your house or a couple of guys to skate with?
There are a bunch of little skate houses and there are a couple of spots. Like that Kyle Leeper spot... the back 3 in front of Pizza Port.
|
They call you Juice. Why do they call you that?
Back in the day, before I was old enough to buy beer, I used to buy juice. I used to drink cases of Capri Suns. Like, instead of buying cases of beer, I'd buy cases of Capri Suns.
But I got a new name the other day. My new name is "Lazy." I told these dudes at the bar that my name was Lindsey and they were so drunk they thought I said "Lazy," so they started calling me that! I'm like, whatever. I already have ten nicknames.
Any trips recently?
I've been skating a lot, but no trips. Just been around San Diego with Mystery. We roll out once a week at the least, or more likely three times a week.
Who's fun to skate with from that crew?
The most funnest? Probably either Dan Murphy or Jimmy Carlin. There's always the dudes who sit there stressin' the whole time; stressed on the ride, stressed at the spot. With those dudes it's not like that. We combine our forces easier!
How are the Cadillac's doing?
Just got a paint job and restoration. $3,500 for the paint job and $1000 for the parts.
Are you trying to keep things vintage or are you trying to do Pimp My Ride style stuff?
Classic and original. I want floor mats, and I want muscle car style rims.
|
What's with the infatuation with Cadi's?
I don't understand how you could NOT want a Cadillac if you're a proud American. Chevy is alright, Ford is alright, but if you're an American you can't be f**kin' around with BMW and all that other bulls**t. What does that do for the economy?
So you buy Cadi's to help the economy?
Well, yeah. If they had that car at the dealership for $40,000, I'd buy it. My car has four car lighters, four cup holders, and leather seats. There's even a fuel sentinel that tells me how much fuel I have. That's digital; that's '81!
Do you think you can road trip that thing?
I want to. It's only got 80,000 miles on it, so it's ready to drive. I want to find someone to go with me, hire a filmer, and drive to Florida. The speedometer only goes up to 90, but that's fine because once you're up to about 65 you're movin'.

NEW QUADANGLE PHOTOS AND VIDEO!
|
|
A few weeks ago we hosted a launch party for the DC/SE re-release of the Quadangle, created this time in a new 24-inch size. Happening in NYC, the evening went flawlessly with 100-plus retailers, taste-makers and industry peeps filling the private room at NYC's B Bar and Grill. DJ Ani spun the whole night as the crowd checked out the 2nd edition bike from the DC x SE collaboration and DC Co-founder Damon Way helped raffle off one of the limited edition bikes. Even Erik Sermon of EPMD rolled in and actress Erika Christenson swung by late night to chop it up on the dance floor. Want more? Check out the special DC Quadangle minisite at dcshoes.com/quad for the visual evidence from the evening... go here then click on PHOTOS.
We've also posted a video that details the ongoing collaboration with SE Racing and this latest installment featuring the reincarnation of the 24" Quadangle. BROC HEPLER TAKES 3RD AT SEATTLE SUPERCROSS
|
|
An unfortunate start to the '08 season, but a high to end it. Broc.
|
Last weekend Broc Hepler returned to AMA Supercross Lites racing, taking 3rd place in the second to last race of the season as the series hit Seattle. Unable to even line up for races for the better part of 2008 because of broken thumb suffered at Anaheim 3, Broc came into Seattle hot off a win at this month's Moto X World Championships in San Diego.
|
|
In untypical Seattle fashion, the weather got nice just in time for Saturday night's racing. In his heat race Broc came out of the first turn in 5th place, finishing the race in the exact same position to advance to the Lites main event. There, he avoided a first turn pile-up and went on to enjoy a nice battle with Metcalfe and Brayton for the coveted podium spots. Broc finally stuffed Metcalfe on the very last lap to take 3rd.
The final event of the 2008 AMA Supercross Series is going down tomorrow in Las Vegas! Tune into CBS on Sunday at noon EST for a recap of the 2008 season including rider interviews, racing highlights and behind-the-scenes footage.
