Not Clear in Atlanta
Clear, the company that introduced fast-*** security checks for paid members at airports around the country, got a bit of a set-back with plans to expand into the worlds busiest airport. Atlantas Hartsfield-Jackson Airport told Clear and other suitors that they want to work on easing the security lines at their airport by re-configuring the ***s they have and adding new free-of-charge ***s before they decide if Atlanta needs a paid-for ***. The airport has been working to reduce security-line wait times which can run as long as one and one-half hours. Currently there are 28 ***s at the airport but the new plans call for eliminating six ***s that are inefficient and adding 10 more efficient ***s for a net gain of four ***s. At this point, Clear will have to put on hold the 6,000 people in Atlanta theyve already signed up at $128 a year. Uniteds Chairman Glenn Tilton issued a statement in response saying that their strategy is consistent. Consolidation is underway ensuring you have the right partner is everything. Stay tuned for more news in the ongoing series of As the Airlines Turn. But bottom line, none of its good for the consumer.
