San Francisco hits 70% city recycling rate
The city of San Francisco has chalked up a 70 percent recycling rate - the highest in the US diversion of waste, which includes recycling, composting, and re-use, has increased from 35 percent in 1996, to 70 percent today, Mayor Gavin Newsom announced last week. US revises standards for hazardous waste combustion
The US Environmental Protection Agency issued the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for new and existing hazardous waste combustors on October 12, 2005. The April 8, 2008 amendments to this rule revise or clarify several compliance and monitoring provisions in the October 12, 2005 rule.
