RAIN 04/30: CBS Radio preparing Pandora competitor
Dear Criss,
After being the slowest to embrace the Internet among major broadcasters, CBS Radio last year decided Internet radio "is an incredible business -- we gotta own this!" CBS executives yesterday presented their "Rethink: The Next Generation of Radio" campaign in Chicago. CBS's David Goodman says the company's goal is to be #1 in Internet radio -- "fast!"
CBS also offered a preview of their Play.it personalized Internet radio service which incorporates a visual tool to add and remove artists from the user's personal station. We have a screenshot of an early version of it (the site will roll out over the summer), plus more from the CBS event, in today's issue of RAIN: Radio And Internet Newsletter, at http://www.kurthanson.com.
