TONIGHT ON THE CBS EVENING NEWS

Here's an early look at what we are working on for tonight's broadcast of THE CBS EVENING NEWS from Anchor and Managing Editor Katie Couric:

Hi everyone,

Seeking to quell the growing fury over Rev. Jeremiah Wright today, Barack Obama said he is "outraged" at his former pastor's recent comments. Senator Obama also said he was "saddened by the spectacle" Wright has created. But Wright has said simply: "I am not a politician." How much damage is really being done to the Obama's campaign … and will it continue? Dean Reynolds will have the story and Jeff Greenfield will join us for some analysis.

What's your biggest economic worry? For more and more Americans, it's the cost of gasoline. Jim Axelrod takes a closer look at some of the solutions being proposed.

It was about six minutes of pure destruction … as three extremely rare tornadoes struck part of Virginia yesterday. Remarkably, there appear to be no deaths - and our Susan Roberts meets some of the people who weathered the massive storm … and survived.

Credit card debt in this country is mounting, and tonight we'll have a new installment of our series Life & Debt. Anthony Mason examines how retirees and seniors are increasingly … finding themselves in bankruptcy court.

Our soldiers are virtually promised college tuition. Why are many left holding the bill? Thalia Assuras has the story.

It's being called the "video game event of the year," and it's projected to be the best-selling game ever … raking in hundreds of millions of dollars. Daniel Sieberg explains the appeal of Grand Theft Auto IV.

I hope you'll join us tonight, Katie
