Fri, Apr 25th 2008 10:29

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Object Brokering

About: Granite Data Services (GDS) is an alternative to Adobe LiveCycle
(Flex 2) Data Services for J2EE application servers. It is not, however, a
drop-in replacement: you won't be able to simply deploy a Flex 2 Data
Services application into a Granite Data Services server without
modifications. The main goal of this project is to provide a framework for
Flex 2/EJB3/Spring/Seam/Guice/Pojo application development with full
AMF3/RemoteObject benefits. It has a Data Push feature implemented as AMF3
requests sent over HTTP (Comet).

Changes: This release brings many new features, improvements, and
bugfixes: tighter Granite/JBossSeam integration (Tide), an improved
ActionsScript3 generator (Gas3), a new ActionsScript3/Java type
conversions stack, and (partially) automated configuration for several
Flex/Granite options.

by Jakub Schmidtke (http://freshmeat.net/users/tanisek/)
Fri, Apr 25th 2008 01:04

Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
System :: Hardware

About: Lapsus was created to provide easy access to additional features of
various laptops. Currently there exists support for Asus and IBM laptops,
but IBM support is still highly experimental. It is possible to control a
laptop's LED status, wireless, touchpad, and Bluetooth devices, brightness
of the LCD, and sound volume. These features must be supported by either
the asus-laptop kernel module from the acpi4asus project or the ibm-acpi
driver.

Changes: Recognition of LED names used by the new version of the
asus-laptop module was corrected. Support was added for the volume and
mute switches in IBM laptops, and NVRAM updates were fixed. Alsa mixer now
always has a 0-100 volume range, and it modifies the headphone channel
together with the best channel found. An issue that prevented lapsus from
building with the new gcc version was corrected.

About: LuaRocks is a deployment and management system for modules in the
Lua programming language. It aims to provide facilities for Lua such as
those from module systems of other scripting languages, such as Ruby's
RubyGems or Perl's CPAN. LuaRocks allows Lua modules to be installed as
self-contained packages called "rocks", which also contain version and
dependency information. This information is used at install time so that
when one rock is requested, all rocks it depends on are also installed.
It's also used at run time so that when a module is required, the correct
version is loaded.

Changes: This release allows applications to inspect which packages they
are fetching modules from. New variables are available for rock authors.

Fri, Apr 25th 2008 10:59

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: The MiniUPnP project is a library and a daemon. The library is
aimed to enable applications to use the capabilities of a UPnP Internet
Gateway Device present on the network to forward ports. The daemon adds
the UPnP Internet Gateway Device functionality to a NAT gateway running
OpenBSD/NetBSD/FreeBSD/Solaris with PF/IPF or Linux 2.4.x/2.6.x with

[032] - phpLogCon 2.1.1
by deltaray (http://freshmeat.net/users/deltaray/)
Fri, Apr 25th 2008 10:39

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: phpLogCon is a Web front-end for syslog and other network event
data. It provides easy browsing and some basic analysis. Network events
are taken from a database, where they must be stored by a feeding
application (not part of phpLogCon itself). Depending on database
contents, phpLogCon can process syslog messages, Windows event log entries
and some more exotic things. It works together with rsyslogd, an enhanced
syslog deamon but can also team up with any other application capable of
writing to a database.

Changes: A detail page has been added to phpLogCon that shows all possible
details of a syslog message. It is possible to page in the detail view.
Minor notices bugs in functions_db.php, which will become important once
the UI is added, have been fixed. A "NEXT" button bug in the install
script has been fixed; only on next button is available in the install
script. A full German translation has been added.

the console.

Changes: This release has more run and install info, more optimization
features in the installation, and some other minor improvements in the
internal code.
