TAN Books - Putting Pope Benedict's words into action
| Trouble viewing this e-mail? View a webpage version here. |
We at TAN Books have been inspired by the Holy Father's recent visit to America. His joyous expression, traditional attire, vestments and mitres and his clear, direct instruction and exhortations have given Catholics encouragement as we grapple with our increasingly secularized society.
We are thankful for the Holy Father's clarity and conviction when speaking of the recent scandals in the priesthood. So much of his visit was transformed into an opportunity for healing wounds that affect all Catholics to some degree. Since our founding, TAN has published books and writings of the saints that exemplify or teach some of the very things Pope Benedict XVI addressed during his visit to the United States. Our pope recognizes that "America is a land of great faith" whose people "have confidence in God" but need to be "reminded of the ultimate purpose in their lives." This e-mail offers a collection of books that can assist you in reconnecting with that "ultimate purpose," nurturing that "confidence" and strengthening your faith. May we all strive to put the Holy Father’s words into action in our lives! Thank you, Pope Benedict XVI! |
| On the struggle of Catholics in secularized modern culture: "...the emphasis on individualism has even affected the Church (cf. Spe Salvi, 13-15), giving rise to a form of piety which ... emphasizes our private relationship with God at the expense of our calling to be members of a redeemed community." |
