Tort reform vote on hold in state House

After more than an hour of debate, the House sponsor of this year's comprehensive tort reform bill suddenly asked that the state House of Representatives postpone a vote on the measure. Earlier, Republicans and Democrats in the House joined forces to defeat an amendment to SB 156 that would have deleted the entire 130-page bill, replacing the language with a proposed constitutional amendment further limiting contingency fees.
