IPv6 - A New Era in Government Networks
July 10,
2008
Washington, D.C.
Registration: 7:30
am - Program Starts: 8:30 am - Program Ends: 12:15 pm
About this Briefing:
By June 30, 2008, federal agencies are required to
have upgraded their networks to support the migration to Internet Protocol
version 6 (IPv6) Over the past few years all agencies have spent significant
time and resources preparing for “Day One” in IPv6, but it is only the beginning
of the new era in Internet capabilities. The next two years will see the
development of new technologies, applications, network accreditation,
interoperability testing and certification as industry and government alike
begin to be innovative with IPv6. A recent study has found that by 2011, IPv6
could influence over $97B in federal, state and local IT spending.
Attendees at the IPv6 AM*Briefing will hear government and
industry experts discuss how government agencies can utilize IPv6 to enhance
operations and capabilities, how to integrate IPv6 into current investments and
what IPv6 compliant applications are on the horizon. Attendees will have a clear
understanding on what is “next” following the migration date. Members of the
Federal IPv6 Working Group will discuss their agencies’ successes and challenges
faced with the migration of their networks to IPv6, what procurement vehicles
they used and are available, as well as provide insight into the impact of IPv6
on government over the next few years.
