Hey Shanghai,

Hello there. How are you? An exciting week here at SmSh HQ with a lot of ups and downs. First the downs: the NAS concert was postponed due "to visa issues with his entourage." Does that mean like ... his massage therapist couldn't get into China so he said EFF it? Who knows. What it definitely means is that Nas will be in NYC or wherever when he should be killing it in Shangers on April 25. At any rate, organizers are real confident about rescheduling so we're looking forward to that one and keeping our hopes dangerously high. Rumours are circulating about Nas putting together some kind of apology video for his fans in China. Sounds real ill, Nas. Squash it, son.

Shanghai got a little gangsta last week anyways...

Do you want your money back for your NAS tickets? Really? All you have to do is sit and chillax in your house and SmartTicket will deliver it to you. Click here for details. If you don't want your money back I'm spending it on the DVD of the Notorious B.I.G. biopic. Or I'm spending it on Iron Man, Indiana Jones, Wolverine, Batman 2, or any of the other fricking radness on their way to my DVD lady's cart this summer.

Hey, but lets talk about your weekend: the kids are real bored these days of watching people go wikka-wikka-wikka on records and are more in the mood to see someone go chugga-chugga-chugga on a guitar. Or so you would think by looking at what's ahead of us this weekend -- a weekend that sees more bands performing than DJs. Your highlights are thus: You Say Party! We Say Die! at the Zhijiang Dream factory tomorrow night (SmSh interview here). That's in the same complex as Moon River up there a bit north of Jing'An. Also, don't miss Queen Sea Big Shark (SmSh article here) tonight at something called the Living Design Center. That's in the area of the new Yuyintang but not.

Also, LOgO re-opens again with a show by Overdose and Angry Jerks -- more balls in their line-up S.T.D. has not seen. This is a show for people to get real bummed out about parents and society and conformity. Don't miss out, misunderstood youth.

So LOgO is reopening and also Anar has their REAL opening as well tonight. Of course the last party they had felt pretty real to me, but this is the one that is officially their opening party. Head on down for that then. Other stuff tonight is Ben Huang and tootekool at MAO. Actually, I'm just going to go ahead and capitalize Tootekool this time. Just to see what will happen: Tootekool.

That's the "Dian" launch, which is some kind of electronic music thing I'm not quite sure I follow. Should be packed and fun though if that's your style.

Antidote returns to The Shelter too, with Ladybox and Mr.Tsang. That's tomorrow night and it feels like that one's going to be the party that will go all night for the weekend. I suppose they all do at The Shelter but still. Go get twisted.

Oh and DJ Pierre is at Attica. Tonight. And Mishkin and Ladybox are playing somewhere in the city. I guarantee it.

Don't give money to child beggars, it doesn't help. At all.

Too the extreme I rock the mic like a vandal,

Da Admiral (kinda)

Joke of the week

The inmate on death row was scheduled to be put to death by firing squad the follow morning. Throughout the day, the prison guards were being very nice to him. But when they asked him if he wanted something specific for his last meal, he said he didn't want anything special. When they asked if there was something special he wanted to do, he said nothing. It went on like this all day.

Finally, when he was put before the firing squad, the guard asked if he wanted a cigarette and a blindfold.

"No," the inmate said, "just get it over with."

"Well, is there anything that I can do for you before you go?" said the guard. "You didn't even want a special last meal!"

The inmate thought. "Actually," he said, "Music is my life. One thing I would really like would be to sing my favorite song, one whole time through, with no interruptions."

The guard nodded and told him to go ahead.

The inmate started, "One billion bottles of beer on the wall..."
