FRESH WENNING INTERVIEW
More Jersey pride than Bruce Springsteen. Wenning, switch heel shuv-it.

With Brian Wenning staying here in Cali for a few months, it was pretty easy to grab him this week for a quick little question and answer. We talked about living with PJ, we talked about the new Plan B video, and we talked about his unlikely connection to "the Boss", a.k.a. Bruce Springsteen. Go here to see all that and more in the new interview at dcshoes.com.

DHERS WINS SEASON KICK-OFF AT JOMOPRO
Craig and Daniel, podium sword fight.
Last weekend saw the unofficial kick-off to the 2008 BMX contest season as the JoMoPro went down in Joplin, Missouri, and the newest addition to the BMX team, Daniel Dhers took the win while his teammate Craig Mast (DC am team) took third.
Dhers.
The competition level was absolutely insane at JoMo with an incredibly tight battle for the top of the podium (judging by the riding at JoMo, we’re in for one hell of a 2008 in BMX). Despite strong riding by Daniel throughout, he even thought he’d lose the top spot to Craig, due in part to an epic frontflip flair on the quarterpipe by the young am. But the Venezuelan’s run, which included a no-handed 720 flatspin over the box, proved to be enough to lock down 1st and earn him the chore of crating home the $10,000 check that came with it.

Our friends at Ride BMX Magazine posted some nice coverage throughout the weekend, including a sweet little video recap of JoMoPro. Follow this link to watch the final runs.
COOKE’S LOCAL EXPOSURE 5 HITS NEW ENGLAND NEXT WEEK
Next week Allan Cooke’s Local Exposure Tour hits the road for the fifth time! This tour targets spots across New England as Allan and the boys load up the tour buses (including Allan’s DC bus) to look for talent at small local skate parks. Come out to ride with some of your favorite pros, and score free product in the process!

It’s true: Allan has won X Games. But he also likes to give back to the sport that has given him so much, and the Local Exposure Tour is one way in which he does that. It’s an opportunity for unsigned, local rippers to get some needed publicity and sponsorship opportunities; chances that never would’ve existed without Allan’s L.E.T. The winner of each tour even gets video coverage, flow sponsorships from tour supporters, and a chance to ride along on the next leg of the Local Exposure Tour.

Stay tuned to this Newsclip for more coverage of Allan’s L.E.T. adventures.
Look for Allan's bus with the custom DC wrap all over NE roads next week!

Bruce loves da kids!
Last weekend the Irons brothers once again hosted the annual Pine Trees Classic, a local surf comp for the kids of Kauai. Groms from all over the islands come out to showcase their skills, score some free product, and generally just have one of the most fun times of the year!

Probably one of the raddest parts about the Pine Trees Classic is how stoked-out the local kids get. Imagine being a 12-year old, hanging out with Bruce, getting to surf all day, and going home with biggest bag of product ever. Pretty nice! Reports from local elementary school teachers note that for the entire week after the event every kid at school is dressed exactly the same, decked out in 100’s of dollars worth of fresh tees, shoes, and shades.

TransWorld SURF has posted a good gallery from the event on their site… go here to see that.
MILLSAPS WINS DETROIT SUPERCROSS!
Last weekend the drama kicked up and the series got tight as the 2008 AMA Supercross Series hit Detroit, with Davi Millsaps earning the win. It was his second win for this year, launching him to the top three in the 2008 series standings.

Davi slipped through his heat race and progressed to the main event, where he came out of the first turn near the head of the pack in 2nd. He quickly moved into the lead, where he stayed as he fought off chargers for the remainder of the 20-lap main.

After the race Davi said, "Really, I didn't feel all that good earlier today, but in the main I got a good start and was able to stay up front."
With Davi now sitting in 3rd place, the Supercross Series heads to St. Louis, the third-to-last event of the season. Things should get interesting regarding who’ll take the ’08 championship… it’s an awfully tight battle up front. Go here for the full schedule, and tune in for the action!

DC TEAM ALL OVER THE MOTO X WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PODIUMS

Last weekend saw the first ever Moto X World Championships in San Diego, an X Games style event focused purely on two-wheel riding. DC riders killed it, with Nate Adams, Ricky Carmichael, and Broc Helper all taking wins across four events.

It's rare to see a Nate Adams racing photo, so we thought we'd include one. Nate, speed here, style later.

Nate’s weekend got started with a gold medal in a new event, Speed and Style. The event sees riders hitting two courses in the stadium—one a modified FMX course, the other a modified race course—with points chalked up and combined for the fastest and most stylish. Nate clearly has both style and speed, so he easily took the gold helmet.

Ricky, stylish step-up against a clean backdrop. Look how high he is above that bar!

RC had a painful experience in Moto X Step-up. Early on he was the favorite… while most riders were barely clearing the bar, Ricky was easily flying over it every time. After one jump he came down super hard, hitting his chin on the bars. He remained composed for the cameras and fans, but he was clearly in pain after putting the force of a three-story fall on his jaw. Regardless, his height of 33’ was enough for 2nd place.

Hopefully Broc's win at MXWC is a preview of things to come once Outdoors starts in about a month.

Broc’s gold medal came in Moto X Racing. His first time racing competitively after being injured for the last two months, he basically dominated the main event and all his heat races to take the convincing win (check out an interview with Broc about the win on Racer X’s site here).

The weekend of moto ended with the freestyle event. Nate picked up another medal as he owned the finals with his trademark perfectionist style, hitting each and every element on the course and sending a backflip superman seat grab over the big 115-footer.

Nate, gold helmet... not medal.

With such a strong performance, Nate also earned the Evel Knievel Most Outstanding Rider Award. Text-messaging fans voted him in… after all, he was the only rider to score double golds at MXWC. The award also came with a sweet new Harley. Nate said, "Dude, I had no idea that ESPN was even giving away that custom Evel Knievel Harley Davidson until they called me down to present it to me. I'm so stoked—I'm going to pimp it out with some gold spoked rims and maybe even throw and exhaust on that baby!"

Congrats to Nate, RC, and Broc on the great finishes at the first Moto X World Championships. For more coverage of the event check out expn.com.
