Nominations open for OASIS Board and TAB
Nominations are now being accepted for the OASIS Board of Directors and for the
Technical Advisory Board (TAB). The OASIS Board of Directors is comprised of
top-level executives, experienced in managing growth, who exercise a major
impact on the strategic direction of the consortium. TAB members are technical
experts who identify opportunities and areas for standardization and provide
advise on the consortium's technical agenda. Nominations for both the Board of
Directors and the TAB close 15 May; elections will be held 19 May - 19 June.

OASIS to hold Annual General Meeting and Reception
All OASIS members are strongly encouraged to attend this year's AGM, which will
be held on Wednesday, 30 April, at the Santa Clara Marriott in conjunction with
the Open Standards 2008 Symposium. The AGM provides a members-only opportunity
to review and respond to a state-of-the-union address presented by the OASIS
Board of Directors. A member reception, sponsored by SAP, follows the AGM.

Countdown to Symposium begins
On 28 April, the OASIS annual symposium begins in Santa Clara, California. This
year's program, "Composability in SOA," was organized by the OASIS Technical
Advisory Board with support from the Open CSA Member Section. Speakers from
around the world will address SOA-related topics including mash-ups,
Service-Oriented AJAX, SCA, BPEL, SDO, BPM, Web
Service Transactions, Data Security in SOA, SOA Reference Architecture, and
more. Online registrations will be accepted until 24 April; on-site
registrations will open 28 April.

Public review starts for WebCGM 2.1
The OASIS CGM Open WebCGM TC has approved WebCGM version 2.1 as a Committee
Draft and submitted it for public review. WebCGM is a profile of the Computer
Graphics Metafile, an ISO standard for the interchange of 2D vector and mixed
vector/raster graphics. WebCGM is optimized for Web applications in technical
illustration, electronic documentation, geophysical data visualization, and
similar fields. This public review ends 1 June.

Nominations open for IDtrust Steering Committee
Three seats on the OASIS Identity and Trusted Infrastructure (IDtrust) Member
Section Steering Committee are up for election. The Steering Committee provides
guidance to help the Member Section achieve its goal of promoting greater
understanding and adoption of standards-based identity and trusted
infrastructure technologies, policies, and practices. Any IDtrust participant
may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee. (Any
OASIS member may join IDtrust at no additional cost.) Nominations close 24
April; the election will be held 28 April - 12 May.

IDtrust hosts free webinar on abstract structured identifiers
"The Relationship Between OpenID, Higgins, i-names, and XDI" is the topic of a
complimentary webinar offered on Tuesday, 6 May, at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM US EDT.
The event will explore the reasons distributed directories, digital identity
frameworks, ontologies, reputation systems, and other emerging Web technologies
need abstract structured identifiers. The webinar will be hosted by the OASIS
IDtrust Member Section and the Extensible Resource Identifier (XRI) TC. An
interactive question and answer period will follow the presentation.
