"Stay The Hand"'s co-creators and co-directors are four-time Emmy-winning choreographer John Malashock and internationally renowned Persian composer and UCSD Professor Shahrokh Yadegari. A fusion of dance, music, poetry and design, the work explores ancient Persia's influence on conflict and harmony in the Middle East. Malashock and Yadegari delve into powerful cultural traditions--providing a glimpse into the ancient world, with an eye toward reconciliation in these difficult, modern times. The amazing richness of Persian poetry and music set the stage for this emotional intermingling of art forms and expression. Dazzling choreography by Malashock with his amazing company of dancers and scintillating Persian music and vocals by Yadegari brilliantly illuminate how people's shared origins can lead to cultural conflict or peaceful co-existence.
