Location Intelligence Conference update

_Location Intelligence 2008: You Asked for It, You Got It

Direction Media built this year's Location Intelligence Conference on the specific needs of its readers and past conference attendees. Conference Chairman and Directions Media Vice Publisher Joe Francica explained how the conference committee listened and responded to those content preferences. "How could we get top-notch speakers from world-class private and public organizations to share their insights? The answer was to recognize the technologies our readers wanted to know more about and work with partners to handpick speakers with significant successes tied directly to geospatial technology."

The conference takes place April 28-30 in Santa Clara, CA. We invite our readers to register today and be sure to make your hotel reservations before the conference rate expires on April 12th.

Fundamentals of Geographical Information Systems, Fourth Edition
Offering a completely up-to-date introduction to the field, the Fourth Edition presents the basic concepts and skills that readers need to know in order to solve everyday geographical problems. The book integrates the ideas of geographic inquiry and spatial thinking, enabling readers to join in the excitement of discovery as it takes place within GIS databases. This information can be applied to everything from emergency vehicle analysis routing to urban and regional planning. From Wiley, 2008.

Applied Demography in the 21st Century
Applied demography is clearly evolving as its practitioners become involved in the emerging trends of the 21st century. Databases, substantive issues and methodological approaches seldom considered just a few years ago have become mainstream concerns in the area of applied demography. This book is derived from the 1st post-2000 national conference on Applied Demography, held in San Antonio, Texas January 7-9, 2007 under the sponsorship of the Institute for Demographic and Socioeconomic Research at The University of Texas at San Antonio. It provides an opportunity to obtain an overview of the current state of applied demography. The work will provide a cross-sectional view of applied demography and an evaluation of its likely future. From Springer, 2008.
