I've been in Verona for the past few days, at Vinitaly, the major Italian wine trade fair. The atmosphere is more subdued than usual, thanks to two scandals, one over Brunello, and the other over tainted jug wine that one of the major Italian weeklies has bunched together in a frontal attack on wine. People aren't happy and I'd hate to be the guy who edits this weekly's annual wine guide.
