Bearfoot's bluegrass sound sweet as 'Molasses'

"I was a Bearfoot virgin." That's what 26-year-old anthropology major Rebecca Jenkins said after hearing Bearfoot for the first time. Jenkins was among the many spectators who sat - and stood - in the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on March 28 to get a glimpse of the Alaska-based quintet: Angela Oudean (fiddle), Annalisa Tornfelt (fiddle), Kate Hamre (bass acoustic), Jason Norris (mandolin) and Mike Mickelson (guitar).

Basketball: All good things come to an end for UAA

The Student Union of UAA is not generally the place a person would hear the chant "Let's go, Seawolves" and uproarious applause. However, on March 26-27, it was a different story. Talking about sustainability pointless without cleaning up our own act first

Spring is here, according to our calendars. Trees are budding, flowers beginning to bloom, young men's fancies lightly turning to thoughts of love - the whole nine yards. At least, that's probably the story further south where spring really does start on March 21; here, if we're lucky, we get temperatures edging into the 40s and enough sun to turn mounds of dirty snow into gritty mud, plus standing water where the ground is still too frozen to absorb any of it. 'Run Fatboy Run' follows tired sports comedy formula

"Run Fatboy Run" is not a typical movie, let alone a typical comedy. Of course, when combining the writing talents of Michael Ian Black ("Reno 911!: Miami") and Simon Pegg ("Sean of the Dead"), with the comedic talents of Dylan Moran ("Sean of the Dead") for the directorial debut of "Friends'" David Schwimmer, anything can happen. Colleges keeping an eye on troubled students

LEXINGTON, Ky. - On the agenda: A student who got into a shouting match with a faculty member. Another who harassed a female classmate. Someone found sleeping in a car. And a student who posted a threat against a professor on Facebook. In a practice adopted at one college after another since the massacre at Virginia Tech, a University of Kentucky committee of deans, administrators, campus police and mental health officials has begun meeting regularly to discuss a watch list of troubled students and decide whether they need professional help or should be sent packing. Political race or racial politics? You decide

I would have preferred not to jump aboard the "race" train at all during my running commentary of this political cycle, but I should have known that would be next to impossible. God of War: Chains of Olympus

Arguably one of the greatest things about the videogame's medium is the ability to immerse the player in a character or setting far removed from reality. Thanks to "Madden NFL," even scrawny nerds can be NFL stars; because of "Final Fantasy VII," effeminate emo kids can save the world. Full Story
