Connecting A to B: A swivel chair approach
Sean McGrath, ITworld.com

I find it interesting that we have a tendency to rush to find IT
solutions to our IT problems. A good example of this I think is the
speed with which we snicker at the very mention of a swivel chair-based
integration strategy. It smacks of wrongness. We feel a strong urge to
take the chair away and do it "properly".

Housing market woes affect flying saucers

Chattanooga's famous space house -- a livable home shaped like a UFO --
sold for a mere $135,000 at auction last week, despite the worldwide
attention the sale caused. One thing that might have given potential
homeowners pause: the only way in or out is via a retractable ladder
underneath the spacecraft. Also, it can't fly to other solar systems,
or even to the next state.

Anti-Virus Is Dead: The Advent of the Graylist Approach to Computer
Protection
http://cwflyris.computerworld.com/t/3017063/158421455/100921/0/
This whitepaper, written by Hurwitz & Associates Partner Robin Bloor,
discusses how viruses, trojans, and other forms of malware persist only
because anti-virus, the main defense against them, is terribly flawed.
But now a far more effective technique is proliferating. Instead of
trying to recognize malicious software, application whitelists focus on
authenticating valid software. This approach enables whitelists to block
a far wider variety of malicious software than AV products could ever
hope to stop.
