Vern Powell & Matt Lybeck, both active
competitors in the WCB and other local,
regional and national competitions, will give
a draft horse forging and shoeing
demonstration. Vern and Matt will provide an
up close look at the forging process, proper
foot preparation, and application of the
draft horse shoe. They will also offer hands
on instruction for anyone interested.
Lee Sackett & Don Tritz will be bringing over
50 years of combined shoeing experience to
Centaur, and be sharing that knowledge with
you as they cover shoeing the Western
Pleasure horse. Lee and Don will take you
through the discipline and the shoeing
techniques required for success in the
Western Pleasure world. Hands on will also be
available for anyone interested!
Red Renchin, a Hall of Fame Horseshoer and
owner of a multi farrier business will be
demonstrating the glue on shoe process. Red
will take us through the various reasons for
gluing, the proper preparation and a few
techniques the will almost guarantee glue on
success!

Mark Milster, CJF, comes from a long line of
blacksmiths and farriers, beginning with his
grandfather. He's been shoeing for 18 years
and has extensive experience with shoeing all
types of horses with different needs and
challenges.
Mark has been competing in shoeing contests
for ten years, and has won many honors
including: 2001 World Champion Blacksmith,
Winner of Mustad Specialty Forging at AFA
Convention, Six-Time World Champion in Draft
Horse Shoeing Competition, and Winner of John
Gibson Cup at Edward Martin's Clydesdale
shoeing competition in Scotland. He made the
U.S. Horseshoeing Team in 1998, 1999, 2000,
2001, and 2004. Mark judged the 2003
National championship and has also judged
internationally. He currently resides in
Washington, Oklahoma.
