State Patrol awards all its dispatchers
When the floodlights for television cameras kick in at the scene of a highway crash, they're often pointed at a uniformed information officer for the Washington State Patrol, who explains the situation for the public.

Kathryn Kimbell of Olympia has been reappointed to the State Employee Combined Fund Drive Committee.
Whistleblower Act offers retaliation protection
Here are six bills aimed directly at state workers or potential state workers from the legislative session that ended last week, four that passed and two that did not:
Agency update - March 17
Anne Yarbrough has been named employee of the quarter for the fourth quarter of 2007. She is the grant and contracts specialist for the library development program at the Washington State Library.
3-year computer project set to be shelved
A computer project of the Health Care Authority, which runs state workers' health insurance plans, likely will end after $7 million in taxpayer money has been spent developing it, and budget writers plan to take about $260 million from the agency.
Vocational Rehabilitation eliminates waiting list
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation received kudos from the top last week, in a celebration of eliminating one of the agency's features - its waiting list.

Brenda Carlstrom of Hoquiam and Barbara Sainitzer of Olympia have been appointed to the Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment.
Senate leaves out E-recruiting budget request
