A Personal Message From Michael Chessler
Dear friends,
I want to thank you, our customers, for the overwhelming response to the Rare Book E-Mails that we recently sent. The combination of enthusiastic collectors and readers, great books and a weak dollar combined to make this month, and this quarter, the best we have had in ten years.
Please remember that every word you hear on TV about a weak economy is irrelevant, unless you are in the minority of folks caught by the economic problems of the world. Book readers and collectors tend to be winners, not losers, and I want to thank you for not being afraid to grab these treasures while we have them.
But brace yourself, in a few weeks we will acquire the 1100 book collection of one of our best customers of the 1980s, a gentleman who took advantage of the wonderful availability of great Mountaineering Books 20 years ago.
Getting these great books that we sold in the 1980s back again is like having my high school sweet-hearts back again. And even though I am now old, they are still young and beautiful!
