Bhasin has over 17 years’ experience in television, radio and motion pictures. At Miditech, he was responsible for ideating, conceptualising, creating, identifying TV and film properties, as well as strengthening and contributing to the existing ones. As a supervising producer, he has worked on shows like ‘Fame Gurukul’, ‘Deal Ya No Deal’, ‘Main Hoon’, ‘Indian Idol Takaatak’, ‘Indian Idol – Aane Wala Pal’, and ‘Extreme Makeover’. Prior to Miditech, Bhasin was associated with Sahara One, BAG Films, and NDTV.
Yahoo! India has appointed Gopal Krishna as Head of Audience, responsible for all consumer-facing products in the region. Krishna will be based in Bangalore and will report to Keith Nilsson, Managing Director, International Emerging Markets, Yahoo! Inc. As the Audience Head, Krishna would be responsible for all flagship Yahoo! India products, including communities and communications, media and entertainment, Front Doors, and Yahoo! India Search, among others. Krishna’s responsibilities would also include marketing and business development for Yahoo! India. Prior to joining Yahoo! India, Krishna was setting up a seed-stage venture capital fund focused on Internet and mobile start-ups in India.
CMC, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, has announced that the company’s Board of Directors had appointed Kalpana Morparia, Vice Chairman, Insurance Securities & Asset Management, ICICI Group, as Independent Director. Morparia was Joint Managing Director of ICICI Bank till May 2007. A graduate in science and law from Bombay University, Morparia had joined ICICI Ltd in 1975 and had led the ICICI Group’s major corporate structuring initiative as well as the merger of ICICI Ltd with ICICI Bank to create India’s second largest bank.
Journalist Syedain Zaidi has joined Lehren Entertainment as Head of News & Operations. Lehren Entertainment is scheduled to launch a 24x7 showbiz news and entertainment channel in mid-April 2008. Zaidi has over 14 years' experience in news and TV production. Prior to joining Lehren, Zaidi was India TV's Chief of Bureau – Maharashtra. He had helped set up its bureau in Mumbai and was known as the face of India TV in Mumbai. Zaidi was also involved in setting up Sahara India's various television ventures. | | | | | |
