EDUCATION WORLD PREMIERE HUMOR
POET'S CORONER
***************************************************************************

The Movie Version
by Forrest Stone

In the movie version of this fine spring day
A troubled kid talks, well, his troubles away
And I get embroiled in a complex plot
And in the end, the good guys hold sway

In real (not reel) life, I confess
I spend after-school-time cleaning up a mess
And a kid comes in who, well, forgot
And goes away to do his homework, I guess

In the movie version of the standardized test
I help a struggling cohort and never get rest
They all excel and off they trot
To join the brightest and the best

In real (not reel) life, we do all right
The gains are there, however slight
Not a straight line, but a scatter-plot
And next year we get right back into the fight

In the movie version of this career
The TV networks' crews are here
To cover the awards I've got
Celebrities come from far and near

In truth, I get a cup for my coffee
"Great teacher," it says, as you can see
A kid gave it to me, and I like it a lot
It's real, it's real, and it belongs to me
