Hey Shanghai,

How EWE doing! Another packed weekend of events, openings, drink deals, crowded dance floors, wackiness, drunkenness, good times, and lifelong regret! So let's suit up and ride shall we?

But first, something from the rumour mill: word on the street is that a Hip Hop icon from New York will be performing in Shangers soon! He's known for his outspoken, self-empowered swagger that rallied the streets of his city and elsewhere, his provocative rhymes, his masterful flow, his feud with Jay Z, a string of platinum releases, and a slew of classic Hip Hop anthems. That's right! JAMES BLUNT will be performing at the Yunfeng Theatre April 18!

Actually just kidding, James Blunt is only known for that crap "You're Beautiful" song that's on the Gilmour Girls soundtrack (probably). But he's really going to be in Shangers so that's something for people who think Maroon 5 is good but just a little too Black Sabbath for their tastes.

In all seriousness though, NAS, will be coming soon! NAS! And he's known for all that stuff I said earlier--the hip hop anthems, the feud, platinum releases and blah blah blah. Tickets and venue information to be released soon! Watch this space, as they say.

But let's look at local goings-ons shall we? Ladies! You had a big day Wednesday! So many clubs rolling out their new Ladies Nights for your pleasures! Which, apparently, include free drinks, beauty tips, free pedicures and so on. So predictable ladies¡...

So anyways Sugar had theirs, Mural had their second one, and Dragon Club hosted their return of "No Man's Land," the popular Ladies Night from the now-defunct Mint Club. Men weren't allowed in until 10:30, but we have it on good authority that the place was packed with women and not a single chap until after 12:00! Fellas, what are you thinking? Dropped the ball on that one seriously. Next week be prompt! 10:30. Or even 10:15 to make sure.

Well enough of that, lets look to the future shall we? A few hours in the future to be exact. So tonight the big one is, of course, that Roller Revival Party, and that's a dress-up affair so get your costumes together. And come on. MORE than just an afro wig too. Are afro wigs still funny? So you're wearing an afro... it's not that funny, man. You better really put some thought into it. Get some sunglasses some chains, a nice suit, tight shorts, knee high socks--the whole get-up. If you show up just wearing an afro wig and "funny" aviator sunglasses, that's like dressing up like Dracula for Halloween. Weak, man. Real weak. Other big ones are Sugar's Friday Party, DJ Coma at The Shelter (interview on Louder.cn), Xi'an Takeover (CD Review on SmartShanghai.com), Matrix and Futurebound at Bonbon, and Funtasy at MAO.

Saturday? The triumphant return of Antidote to The Shelter. Now people, last Antidote at The Shelter MOST OF CHINA showed up and about a hundred people were turned away from the door. If you want in on that one get there early (-ish). Don't do your usual, "I'll head to The Shelter around 2am after going to a few other places first." You won't get in! Plan ahead people. Be smart. Shelter no good for you? Well then, upscale (relatively) clubs Volar, Attica, and M2 all have great stuff going on. Oh and Hedgehog is playing at the new Yuyintang! So that's something for everyone.

But don't take my word for it. Scroll down for details!

Reeeeeeeespect,

Da Admiral

Joke of the week

Little Nancy was in the garden filling in a hole when her neighbor peered over the fence. Interested in what the little girl was up to, he politely asked, "What are you up to there, Nancy?"

"My goldfish died," replied Nancy tearfully, without looking up, "and I've just buried him."

The neighbor was concerned, "That's an awfully big hole for a goldfish, isn't it?"

Nancy patted down the last heap of earth and then replied, "That's because he's inside your stupid cat."
