Don't Keep this Secret!
Hi Raquelle,
A few years ago I went to Paris for a week with some friends. We did a lot of wandering around, seeing the sights, and eating at little cafes, often playing a game I called “Getting to know you.”
Each person asked a question everyone in the group had to answer, including the asker. As the week progressed, the questions got deeper, our conversations more intimate. Some things we discussed were secrets no one else knew.
I was reminded of that game when I read Dr. Henry Cloud’s book The Secret Things of God. Also released on DVD this week, it’s a Judeo-Christian response to the wildly popular book “The Secret,” by Rhonda Byrne.
Dr. Cloud believes the demand for the book reflects our interest in spiritual things. Look at the number of celebrities who are spiritually searching: Madonna is into Kabbalah; Tom Cruise and John Travolta practice Scientology; Goldie Hawn is a Buddhist, as is Richard Gere. Everyone is searching for something more than themselves, Someone greater to be connected to.
As he explores these thoughts and issues, Dr. Cloud compares “The Secret” to Biblical principles. Where they differ, he illuminates Biblical truths that do work in our lives.
Whether you’re just getting to know God, or growing deeper in relationship with Him, you’ll enjoy the journey of discovery to find The Secret Things of God.

Industry Interview
Featured Filmmaker: Dr. Henry Cloud
by Angela Walker
Psychologist, author and student of spiritual life Dr. Henry Cloud has written or co-written more than 20 books. A practicing professional, corporate leader and avid golfer, Dr. Cloud speaks with the compassion and authority of one who has been on the journey himself. We had a few moments to talk with him about his new book and companion DVD The Secret Things of God.
CC.com: How was the experience of taking principles you’ve taught and translating that to film?
Dr. Cloud: It was really a moving experience. As I approached the topic, I wanted to make it easily accessible to people, no matter what their faith perspective. My goal was to try to make faith in God and his ways something that a seeking culture would be open to and connect to.
In order to do that, the way we made the film was a combination documentary-style where I do interviews with people from various backgrounds of faith whose lives illustrate the truth of God’s ways. No matter where they’re coming from, God’s ways are true.
You know, gravity works, whether you believe it or not. It’s the way the universe was created. So it is with God’s ways.

Christina Dawn Fougnie - A Rising Star
For Christina Dawn Fougnie (pronounced foon-YAY), the life of a 12 year old is an event in itself. The Louisville, Kentucky, 6th grader is a cheerleader, an equestrian, and like most girls her age, an ardent admirer of Carrie Underwood and Hannah Montana.
The thing that sets her apart is that she's also starring in the title role of the independent feature film, 'Clancy', currently in production in her hometown Louisville. But for Christina, it's just something that 'happened', not something she's always dreamed of doing.

Dove Family-Approved
Recommended for ages 12 and over

Dove Review:
This is a movie every family should see! Ben Stein does a terrific job as the host, in asking tough questions of those who promote the theory of evolution as the only theory which should be taught in public schoolrooms and universities. Some viewers will be shocked to learn that certain professors were fired from their teaching positions not for teaching Intelligent Design, but for simply mentioning it in a paper or the classroom!
The documentary includes statements from avowed atheists who make such comments as "Religion is nonsensical", or "Believing in God is foolish." However, Ben Stein and many professors promote the idea of teaching Intelligent Design, stating that there are holes in Darwin's theory of evolution, and that the blueprint of our universe is so intelligently designed that it could not have been accidental or random. We gladly award our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal to this documentary. It is informative and also sprinkled with humor, and we recommend it for ages twelve and above. Many parents will probably determine that their children under the age of twelve are mature enough to view this film. Embrace "Expelled" for its Educational Excellence and Common Sense Approach! "Expelled" Excels!
