  from Kyle Phillips
We've got a number of major holidays coming up, the closest I know of being Easter for most Christians (the Greek Orthodox calendar is different, and I don't know about Russian) and Purim for the Jews. Some ideas and suggestions from About.Com's Food Channel:

In the Spotlight
La Pasqua Napoletana
One of the richest Italian Easter traditions, with many dishes whose absence would make the Holiday not-quite-right, including Capretto Cacio e Ova (kid with eggs peas and cheese), artichokes, and La Pastiera, the Neapolitan grain pie.

         More Topics
Una Pasqua Alternativa
An Alternative Easter Dinner, from the Easter when we baptized our daughter during the midnight service, and therefore wanted a dinner that would be tasty, but light. The meal went very well, and Clelia didn't cry at all!

Pani Pasquali, Easter Breads
A collection of the celebratory breads made by those who couldn't afford to buy, say, lamb. True peasant foods, and they are very good.

Top Picks - Favorite Italian Easter Recipes  from your Italian Food Guide
Natale con i tuoi, la Pasqua con chi vuoi -- "Christmas at home and Easter with whomever you wish"is an old Italian saying. However, people have a way of returning to the hearth, and Easter is an occasion for far-flung families to reunite around a well-set table, renewing the bonds that tie. Traditions vary greatly from place to place, and here are some of my favorite Italian Easter recipes.

1) A Spanish Easter Sunday Menu
All sorts of tasty things with which to celebrate the Holiest of Days.

2) Purim Baskets
Food baskets, called Mishloach Manot in Hebrew or Slach Manos in Yiddish, are given on Purim. Jewish law says to give two different types of ready-to-eat food, each of which require a different blessing, to at least one person. Given the fun of this mitzvah, more and more people today are giving creative baskets on Purim day.

3) An Italian Purim
Tasty dishes to celebrate Queen Esther's victory over the hateful Haman.

A fantastic egg
A truly astonishing (edible) Easter egg you may decide to put in a museum. Then again you may not because it's as tasty as it is pretty. Buona Pasqua! Happy Easter! Or, Felice Purim!
