The human rights community is abuzz as the UN -- for the second time in less than two years -- condemned the U.S. government's treatment of racial minorities. The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination pinpointed 'racial biases' in the criminal justice system, housing, health care, and education, and called for immediate action within each of these fields. Further south on the continent, rural Honduran women like Marta, a mother of ten, are taking grassroots action to ensure the education system serves their children well. That's in features, and in analysis, people across Sudan, especially women and refugees, continue to suffer despite the signing of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the government and rebel forces.

The Serbian government canceled a local women's peace march this Saturday, demonstrating escalating political turmoil and state repression of civil rights in response to Kosovo's recent unilateral declaration of independence, say rights advocates.
