  Inside: This Week in Autos
Automakers have made tremendous strides in terms of safety. Air bags, electronic stability, crumple zones and ABS brakes all ensure that passengers are much safer now than at any time since the introduction of the horseless carriage. But we could still do better. As this week's safety rankings for nine midsize SUVs from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety prove, there's still a ways to go yet before all cars can enjoy the highest standard of safety. In fact, as Jim Henry reported this week only one car--the 2009 Nissan Murano--got a perfect score while the others left something to be desired. True, many drivers care about things like fuel economy and horsepower, but these don't mean much if your car gets T-boned. Elsewhere this week we looked at the top dogs and underdogs of the automotive world, with some surprising results, ogled two Koeniggsegg supercars that will debuted at Geneva and test drove the new and improved 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML550. Enjoy.
