CHAS GULDEMOND, LIZZY BEERMAN HANDLE THEIR BUSINESS AT VANS CUP IN TAHOE
Chas jibs for $10,000. Not a bad Friday night.
Last week Chas Guldemond and Lizzy Beerman were both very successful at Vans Cup at Northstar Resort in Lake Tahoe, California: Chas kicked off the weekend by winning the rail jam, and Lizzy closed it out by taking 2nd in Women’s Superpipe.

It was another strong contest validation for the new DC snowboard program—both Chas and Lizzy had DC boards strapped to their feet as they claimed their podium spots.

Chas has been known to do crazy stuff and simply send it in an effort to win comps, and Friday night's rail jam was no exception. Though organizers built a five-feature set-up for competitors to hit, Chas got creative. He un-strapped, climbed up the banner scaffolding on top of the set-up, strapped back in, and bomb dropped into slope, hitting the down-flat-down feature. The tactic earned Chas the win and the 10 G’s that came with it.
Lizzy with style for the photogs.
The winds died and the temps warmed up in time for Sunday’s Superpipe finals. Lizzy looked solid out there on a pipe that some called “slightly imperfect”, sliding through back-to-back 540s to lock in 2nd place. It was the strongest finish for the young 16 year old since last year’s Australian Open.

Snowboarder Magazine has posted a bunch of photos, videos, and some fine event recaps from last weekend’s contest… go here to check it. Congrats Chas and Lizzy!
CELEBRATING 5 YEARS: DC, BP DOUBLE LABEL™ COLLABO
Check Out the Custom Brooklyn Projects Minisite!
This Spring DC is proud to unveil another Double Label™ Retailer Project, this collaboration with Brooklyn Projects in celebration of the shop’s fifth year. Check out the specially built minisite at dcshoes.com for the complete story on the shoe, including a gallery and an extended interview with Brooklyn Projects owner, Dominick “Brooklyn Dom” Deluca.
Brooklyn Projects is the mold that all other street wear/skate boutiques are created after. In the main room, it's a wonderland of brands: some you’ll recognize, some you won’t. On any given day you can find some of skateboarding’s elite pros and celebrities chopping it up with the staff or hanging out watching skate videos.

The shop also host special sneaker release parties and events that are open to the public…no guest list or lame wristbands. The best thing about Brooklyn Projects cannot found in the store but out back where Dominick has build a rather nice miniramp for friends and family. Brooklyn Projects has three locations: two in Los Angeles and one in Japan with two more locations in the works.
The Voltron model was chosen for the new Brooklyn Projects collaboration with DC. Dom colored it up two ways—timber/snake and black/royal colorways—and used custom, detailed materials on the upper panels. The shoe’s lining and insole features a special “BP” repeat pattern.

About his design goals with the shoe, Dom said, “I wanted to make a shoe, one, that I would wear. Two, I wanted to make it as timeless as possible ‘cause trends and fashion flip so easily nowadays. I wanted to make it so that you can wear it for five or ten years. And [I wanted to] keep it simple.”

The Voltron BP is available at Brooklyn Projects and also at finer sneaker boutiques worldwide. Go here for more at the custom minisite at dcshoes.com.

ESCALERA, D-WAY’S BAND, PLAYING THIS WEEKEND IN S.D.

Make it to Solana Beach, California this Saturday night for the official Escalera album release party! Danny Way and the rest of the band will be at the Belly Up Tavern performing songs from their self-titled debut album.

Danny, who plays lead guitar, formed the band about a year ago alongside Bob Burnquist, Ananda Moorman, Casey Gee, and Jason Mueller. It was originally just a way for the guys to jam together amidst their million other responsibilities. Eventually, the guys built their own studio and recorded an album, best described as an irie mix of soulful acoustic rhythms and raw metal riffs.

For more on Escalera, including photos, videos, and a taste of their music, check out their MySpace page here.

HILL RETURNS TO THE SX PODIUM, TAKES 2ND AT INDY
Hill, 40, hot out the gate.

For all of 2008 DC’s Josh Hill has been bouncing around the AMA Supercross result boards… last weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana he pulled it together and took 2nd place in front of a capacity crowd of nearly 60,000.

In his heat race Josh came out the gate in 3rd place, but it wasn’t long before he made a pass and moved into 2nd. He stayed there for the remainder of the race, finishing just behind DC teammate Davi Millsaps.

Where his heat race was fairly cut and dry, Josh really had to work for his podium in the main. He wasn’t even in the top five coming out of the first turn, forcing him to put his head down and charge. He systematically made passes on each of the guys ahead of him, working his way to 2nd to tie his best finish ever in the 450cc class.

Shortly after his second place finish, Racer X online grabbed five minutes with Josh to see how things went… go here to check out the Q and A.

From here, the AMA Supercross Series heads down south to Daytona, FL. Go here for the full series TV schedule, then tune in to watch the action!
