Technique Tips

Leg Extensions in Supine Position with Elbows Supporting

The work of the hip flexors on the extending leg must be neutralized by the abdominals to keep the pelvis stable. Keep the body nice and still as the leg is extended. Keep your abdominals pulled in as you extend the leg and then pull in with the abdominals to lead your leg back in as you bend.

Rond de Jambe in Supine Position with Elbows Supporting

The abdominals will be challenged when the legs move away from the body when circling. Keep extension in the knees to focus the rotation at the hip joints. Lead the leg movement by contracting your abdominals. Obliques will be challenged the most when the leg is out to the side and gravity wants to pull the body in that direction.

Dress 10 Pounds Slimmer

Does this make me look fat? It’s the age-old question. It’s been the punch line for comedians, the lead-in for weight-loss commercials, and the impetus for arguments across America. And they’re adding inches to our waistlines at an alarming rate! Liquid calories, those we take in from beverages, are one of the worst diet disasters of the 21st century. MORE

Post-Workout Nutrition

Source: GetActive! Magazine by IHRSA

You may think that eating after a workout is counterproductive but it’s actually very important to fuel up for post-workout muscle and cell repair. Eating a post-workout meal within 30-minutes of your workout helps restore nutrients to your body and will also prevent you from becoming voraciously hungry later. By helping to regulate your blood sugar levels, eating after a workout will energize and revive you instead of leaving you feeling tired and sluggish. A protein shake with whey (a fast digesting protein) is a great choice for post-workout nutrition.
