The Best Servers for Business
It's not a stretch to say that a network is weak without a strong server in the center of it. Within your server you have files and folders, directory and DNS duties, e-mail, collaboration, and applications. With quad-core CPUs, multiple layers of hardware redundancy, system cooling, and sophisticated management, one of these four workhorse servers will form the backbone of your SMB network.
Lenovo's X300 Answers the MacBook Air
The MacBook Air sets the bar pretty high when it comes to size, weight, and the ability to fit a notebook PC into a manila envelope. Lenovo's newest ThinkPad does a stellar job of answering the Air's form factor and adds a bit more in terms of components, to boot. It weighs about the same as the MacBook Air, depending on how you configure it, and the removable battery, built-in optical drive, integrated WWAN, and multiple USB ports make this little ultraportable much more desirable from a business standpoint. Read the full review for more details.
Microsoft Cuts Vista Prices to Urge Upgrades
Microsoft plans to cut prices of its Windows Vista operating system in a move aimed at pushing customers to switch to the newest version of Windows. Find out how much of a price break consumers will get in this report.
A Mean, Green Machine
The HP Compaq dc7800 Ultra-Slim Desktop is one of the innovators in the latest wave of energy-efficient yet capable desktops PCs. This PC will work for businesses large and small because it can be configured for energy efficiency, helping your company's bottom line. Find out more about its specifications and performance in the full review.
Fast, Simple Wireless Networking
Need one-step wireless networking? You're in luck. The Netgear HD/Video 5 GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit is a 5-GHz-only access-point pair that configures automatically into bridge mode, enabling you to connect different rooms in your house without Ethernet cable at speeds exceeding 100 megabits per second. Check out more details in the full review.
