Celebrating Black History Month
Hi Raquelle,
I live in California, but I am a Texan. Until the day I die, no matter where I live, I will be a Texan. Some of my favorite memories are picnics with my family at the San Jacinto Monument. It marks the site of the final battle in Texas' war for independence from Mexico.
As a resident of California, I live just a few miles away from another historic site. It's the town of Allensworth, the first and only all-Black town in California's history. It was built by Lieutenant Colonel Allen Allensworth in the early 1900s. He believed the town could set an example for the world, and recruited 42 families from around the nation join him.
Black History Month ends on February 29, but contributions made by African-Americans continue. If you're not familiar with Black History, take advantage of the special pack we've assembled. The stories will give you an exciting glimpse into a rich history.

We Shall Not Be Moved - DVD
The untold chapter in the struggle for American Civil Rights
The first African-American house of worship was built by Savannah slaves, working in secret every night to create a place where they might find refuge in their faith. Some two centuries later, the American South had become home to hundreds of African-American congregations-in cities like Birmingham and Atlanta and all across the rural landscape.
From these congregations came the forces of faith-based leadership that conquered segregation and won the battle for Civil Rights. We Shall Not Be Moved is the story of how these congregations and their ministers, with Scripture as their guide, forged a non-violent revolution to "redeem the very soul of America" in the 1950s and early 60s.
With photographs and film from the period, plus the personal accounts of those on the front lines, such as Dr. Wilson Fallin of Brown Chapel AME Church in Selma, a leader in the Voters' Rights Movement; former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young and many more, We Shall Not Be Moved provides a new perspective not only on the courage but on the strategic acumen of the men and women who organized and led the struggle for racial equality.

Faith Keeps "Hannah Montana" Grounded
by Jennifer Riley
Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus recently credited her family and faith for keeping her grounded and out of trouble when many young fellow celebrities have made headlines for their reckless lifestyle and running into legal trouble.
Movies Stir Up Pro-Choice Press
by Alan Ferguson
Two recent movies dealing with unexpected pregnancies have spawned a spate of articles in defence of a woman's "right to choose." The reason for the flurry of attention is that neither of the two movie protagonists decides on an abortion as a way out of their unintended dilemma.
An Invitation from the American Family Association
by Don Wildmon
For years, I have had a dream that AFA would find a way to produce and distribute TV programs addressing major moral issues, programs that explain how great the anti-Chistian bias is in our society and that give viewers ways to respond.
Dove Review
Ratatouille
Dove Family-Approved
Suitable for all ages
This movie has a theme of friendship, of being devoted to family, going after one's dream, and the animation is excellently executed. The humorous moments too are plentiful. The voice talent is great, including actors Ian Holm and Brian Dennehy.
The film captures Paris wonderfully and the viewer will feel as if he/she is dining in this rich environment. The characters are memorable and the audience will be cheering for Remy and his dream. There is some cartoon-type violence and a few minor issues of content which are listed below. Dove gladly approves "Ratatouille" for family viewing. This is one amazing rat your family would gladly invite to dinner.

Love Comes Softly 5-Pack - DVD
by Gayle Perry
"What a series!! I am a "young" african american grandmother and I wanted to establish "lasting memories" with my granddaughters. Well this was it. Stories of love, strength, courage, and above all-faith, are timeless and cross all barriers. The sories are rich in cinematography and period life. Although it is an adjustment to adapt to the new Missy character from the 2nd film, I have still been engrossed in the Oake characters."
