Last week New Scientist magazine published a terrible little article which described a small pilot study in Italy as the ultimate proof that the g spot exists. It was such a pathetic attempt to come up with an eye catching headline that it might have been funny if it weren't so sad. Not two days later the Times published an equally erroneous piece about what they claim is the hot new sexual surgery. I'm just sitting here staring at the marks that my fingernails made in the palms of my hands after being clenched for so long without a break. I hope you had, and are having, a much less angry week. ~ Cory

G Spot Discovered (Again)
An Italian study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine used ultrasound technology to look at the genital physiology of twenty women, nine of whom reported having orgasms from vaginal penetration without clitoral stimulation and eleven of whom reported having never had an orgasm from vaginal penetration alone. Comparing these two groups the researchers found a statistically significant difference in the thickness of what is called the "urethrovaginal space" between the groups. Would this be less boring if I lied and told you that they've proved the existence of the g spot? That's what one magazine did.

Not to be editorially outmaneuvered by New Scientist this weekend's T-Magazine from the New York Times ups the ante in the faux-sex-news-story game with a jaw droppingly ignorant profile of what they claim is the hot new vaginal cosmetic procedure; the "g shot". Read 'em and weep.

 
Does the G Spot Exist?
What does it mean that we need to constantly revisit the same questions about sexual anatomy, function, and experience? It felt like we had a few good years where the g spot dropped off the radar as the next big thing, but since nothing has cropped up in it's place it's time to answer the question once again.
