The genre has new things to talk about, but industry experts state that these changes are not growing the Hindi GEC genre per se.

Budget Wishlist: Print industry wants duties & taxes that impact newspaper production, and FBT to go

The print industry is ready with its wishlist for the Finance Minister prior to the presentation of the Union Budget 2008-09. An INS memorandum broadly specifies that duties and taxes which impact newspaper production should be done away with. There is also call for elimination of the Fringe Benefit Tax for the media industry.

The out-of-home industry would like to see some of those rules regarding billboards to be eased in the Union Budget 2008-09. The industry would also like the total duties to be lowered to a maximum of 16 per cent.
