WHAT’S GOOD AT dcskateboarding.tv
New at dcskateboarding.tv this week…
New PJ Ladd Footage: When we announced his addition to the skate team a few weeks ago we pushed live a PJ-line on DC’s site. This week we’ve added to that line, making a full two minutes of all-new PJ footage for your viewing pleasure. Hold on tight and follow this link.
Danny’s Back: Fresh off a few surgeries at the turn of the year, Danny’s skating again. Skating the MegaRamp, that is. Have a look at a couple of photos here.
The Revolution: What’s the deal with the random BMX screen grab DC ad that ran in the skate mags last month? Get the story in a 1994 revival Danny Way / Colin McKay video clip at planbskateboarding.com.
Greg Hunt Photo Gallery: Mr. Hunt, director of The DC Video, among other films, has hand selected an assortment of photos from his travels and experiences over the years. Check them out in the new gallery.
CONGRATS TO DC SNOW TEAM ON THEIR TWS NOMINATIONS
Ken parked his Subaru rally car inside the Hard Rock Casino for the awards. Lil' John, Ken Block, Eddie Wall, Torstein Horgmo, and Dingo represent.
From everyone at DC, congratulations to the snow team on their nominations at this month’s 9th Annual TransWorld Rider Poll Awards!

About being nominated in the Performance of the Year category, Eddie Wall commented, “So I've been thinking: we were nominated up against Terje Haakonson. Terje Haakonson! That is Nucking Futs! Anyways, [I’m] bummed we didn't come home with one of those little glass statues, but I guess losing to Terje is like winning against anyone else!"

Stay tuned for more happenings on the snow team in next week’s DC Newsclip…
WINNERS FROM THE SNOWBOARDER COVER POSTER CONTEST

Two weeks ago we ran a special contest in this Newsclip, promising to deliver three special edition poster prints of the Snowboarder Magazine cover pictured above. To win, all you had to do was name all the members of the DC crew involved in that session in New Zealand—Ken Block, Torstein Horgmo, Eddie Wall, Ryan Tiene, Jonas Carlson—and be one of the first three to do it. And the winners are…

Nathan Beaman, Vermont
Haavard Isaksen, Norway
Ashlon W. Smith, West Virginia

Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to the three proud new owners of the limited edition prints!
FOR THE GREATER GOOD: DC AND COMMONWEALTH DROP A DOUBLE LABEL™ PROJECT
Go to the new minisite at dcshoes.com now for the story with the Commonwealth Double Label™ Retailer Project. It’s loaded with info on the very unique project, including a full interview with Commonwealth co-owner Omar Quaimbao, a bio on the shop, and a video that details the collaboration.
Commonwealth was created out of necessity. Omar and his partner Larry Incognito saw a void in their native Virginia for a store that accurately represented the lifestyles and interests of themselves and their friends who appreciate skateboarding, design, apparel, art and music—thus Commonwealth was born. With the flagship store in Norfolk, Virginia already established and regarded as one of the premier street wear shops, Omar decided it was time to expand and opened a second location in Washington, DC. Both stores’ stock list is filled with only the most creative and influential brands in the industry.

The shop also hosts community events that better the VA culture, from art shows to cultural events… hence the store’s motto: “For the Greater Good”. Omar notes, “We're trying to help build a creative culture by having events and exhibitions with familiar and unfamiliar artists, designers, and musicians. For us it’s about an exchange of ideas to help round out a person's outlook.”
Omar worked closely with DC on this project. He elected to use a special upper material on the Gatsby shoe: it features a Maharam fabric that was designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. About the shoe’s design, Omar commented, “Besides my main goal of wanting to present American design through Herman Miller and DC, we wanted to keep it clean and let the clean design of the shoe and fabric pattern do most of the talking.”

The Commonwealth Gatsby is available exclusively at fine boutiques worldwide for Spring 2008. For much more, check out the Commonwealth Double Label™ Retailer Project minisite and video at dcshoes.com.

HILLTOP HOODS & DC LAUNCH REMIX SERIES™ SHOE IN AUSTRALIA
It was a classy affair.

A few weeks ago in Melbourne, AUS, DC and the Hilltop Hoods celebrated their first Remix Series™ collaboration shoe. It was an evening of iced out DC bling, thumping DJ beats, and a select crowd of 120 in attendance to catch a Hoods appearance and help usher in the new shoe.

Got kicks on ice. The Hilltop Hoods version of the DC Pride features custom art, special colorways (2), and Hoods lyrics on the insole/lining.

It all went down at Negroni’s, a dark and swanky basement bar with chandeliers, racks of vintage wine and a lush interior. After the Hoods arrived, the crowd of friends, artists, DJ’s and industry dignitaries got right down to enjoying the night… by 2 am every thought they were an MC and capable of rapping alongside DJ Cluso and Regan on the 1’s and 2’s. DC also gave the Hilltop Hoods some fancy blinged out rings and neck pieces to thank the trio for their years of support.

Packed House.

www.sneakerfreaker.com has posted a short interview with the Hilltop Hoods. It gives some background on the project, including how the whole design process went down for DC’s first Australia-based Remix Series™ project. Go here.

The Hilltop Hoods Remix Series™ shoe, dubbed the “Hilltop Remix”, is currently available at fine DC retailers worldwide.
