Deep Ancestry: Inside the Genographic Project
Lecture and book signing by Dr. Spencer Wells
Wednesday, February 27, 2:30 p.m.
The Society of the Four Arts
Palm Beach, Florida
Where do we come from? And how did we get to where we live today? The story of humanity’s journey can be found within each of us—encoded in our DNA. In 2005, National Geographic and IBM, with support from the Waitt Family Foundation, launched the Genographic Project, one of the most ambitious scientific research and public-participation initiatives ever undertaken. It is led by population geneticist Dr. Spencer Wells and has more than a quarter of a million people already taking part. This
nonprofit, anthropological initiative is studying humankind’s ancient family tree to provide the first true "snapshot" of how each of our ancestors moved out of Africa and around the globe 60,000 years ago. Following the lecture, Wells will sign copies of his book The Journey of Man: A Genetic Odyssey. Free and open to the public. For more information on the Genographic Project, click here.

To register for the lecture, please call (561) 805-8562. For directions and more information on this event, please visit www.fourarts.org/Directions.
