Dear Mr Criss, Today, the U.S. is reevaluating its national priorities for space and is addressing the critical problem of how it can comprehensively integrate its space activities into a grand strategic framework addressing foreign policy, global security, technological innovation, industry, and climate change. Meanwhile, around the world other countries, such as Japan and France, are also reexamining their space activities to address the rise of robust and ambitious space programs from India, China, and other BRIC countries. Our report, Smart Power Through Space, explores ways for the U.S. to frame its space activities to meet national priorities while providing a global public good, and gives recommendations for presidential leadership in space for the next administration by effectively positioning the U.S. for success in this high-value, high-visibility arena. If you have any questions, would like additional information, or have feedback, please contact us at space@csis.org.
