I recently returned from some solo travels in South America as I visited the Galapagos and Easter Island.
Having been on many of our G.A.P Adventures tours in the past, I wasn't surprised that half of my Voyage Galapagos tour consisted of other solo travellers. Why is solo travel so popular on our adventures? Quite simply, we make it easy. To learn a little more, be sure to read our Top 5 'Reasons to Travel Solo with G.A.P Adventures' article in this issue of bridging the gap.
We also have a great little story from Peru to share from one of our travellers, and news about an exciting Mayan site in Guatemala that will soon be a must visit for anyone heading through Central America.
Happy travels!

Massive Mirador: Tikal times Three
Imagine a Mayan site in the middle of the jungle three times larger than Tikal (pictured above). The Mirador Basin in northeastern Guatemala is home to the largest tract of untouched rainforest in all of Central America. Within this region lies the remote site of El Mirador, which rivals famous, sprawling, Tikal, and, in fact, is the largest Mayan city that ever existed. Among the ruins at El Mirador are the Danta and Tigre pyramids, the former rising more than 230 feet high, and claiming to be the most massive pyramid in the entire world - yes rivalling even the greatest pyramids of Egypt by volume! Postcards from the Edge: Human Weather
Mark Rubin took a G.A.P Adventures trip to Peru and, after some amazing life inspiring experiences on his In the Shadow of Machu Picchu tour, he sent us his thanks and thoughts about a travel phenomena he refers to as 'human weather'. Here is his story...
I've traveled, toured, walked, swam, ridden, and run my way through most of the usual places on the p***t - and a few unusual places. In all this time, it never occurred to me that the real reason I travel is to figure out the common patterns between people and history.
Like most travelers, I am intrigued by the weather. I am amazed by the patterns of rising air currents, warmed by our sun, with energy transmitted over vast distances. Everything depends on the heating and cooling of the p***t, in endless cycles, caught by humans for a few tiny seconds as we try to make our way. The weather connects everything on the p***t, so it is intriguing and empowering. I am intrigued by people for the same reasons I am intrigued by the weather. Read more...

El Salvador & Guatemala Loop testimonial:
"El Salvador was the surprise of the trip, and the greatest mystery. Juayua and Suchitoto were great destinations. An excellent highlight of three Central American countries."
