JAKE HUMPHREY ON THE AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS
I hope you've been joining us for coverage of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, it's been quite a tournament.
Records have been broken, teams and players have emerged from nowhere and taken the tournament by the scruff of the neck - even the final line-up between Cameroon and Egypt has left people shocked and surprised.
Ahead of Sunday's final, I thought I'd sum up my top five favourite moments of the tournament.
5) BBC Sport pundit and Nigerian legend Sunday Oliseh. I had never met Sunday before, but every time I told someone he was going to be on the show, they immediately mentioned his goal against Spain in the 1998 World Cup (a 30-yard belter!). I hope now people also remember him for being an excellent pundit who is passionate, positive, emotional and eloquent.
4) My journeys to work. We have been broadcasting from Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire for the past few months, a good 45-minute cab ride from home. Remarkably, I've had quite a number of Ghanaian drivers who've been full of interesting chat and conversation, not just about football, but also about what a special place Ghana is.
3) Otto Pfister. Remarkably the Cameroon manager wasn't on the original shortlist of the Cameroonian FA, and now he's guided them, against all odds, to the final! He's also been great value at the tournament as he's grumbled his way through it. Everything from the quality of their hotels to the number of fans watching training sessions has grated on the 70-year-old.
2) Marcel Desailly. What a character. From his interesting dress sense, to his trips around his homeland, it's become clear Marcel loves Ghana as much as Ghana loves Marcel. He's also given us a unique insight into the tournament away from the stadiums.
1).....the goals! There have been so many that the hardest job of the past week has been trying to figure out the top 10 strikes! We'll be revealing our selection in the final on Sunday and I'd be interested to see if you agree. From Muntari to Manucho, the strikes have been quite something.
Enjoy the game,
Jake
