BRIAN MOORE ON THE 2008 SIX NATIONS
I expect this season's Six Nations to be so keenly contested I can't see any team completing the Grand Slam.

England's first match since the World Cup final is against Wales and while I don't think coach Brian Ashton's team selection is bad, there are one or two players I don't agree on.

One of those is Iain Balshaw's selection at full-back.

Firstly I don't see why Josh Lewsey has been omitted from the squad, while to leave Matthew Tait, who can cover three positions, out of the 22 is baffling.

Warren Gatland's decision to pick 13 Ospreys players in Wales's starting XV is bizarre.

The Ospreys have had Heineken Cup success against English opposition this season, but I can't see what significance that has as their win over Harlequins was one of the worst games I've ever seen.

France will be fascinating this year.

You never know what you are going to get with France and new coach Marc Lievremont's decision to bin half their World Cup squad makes them even more of a wild card than normal.

Their opponents, Scotland, will be looking to push on. They've got a settled pack and a bit more size in the backs, but can they solve their try-scoring problem?

As for Ireland, it's very much a case of make or break.

They can't afford another year where they fail to deliver otherwise some great players will always be labelled serial underachievers.

They face Italy, who I can see struggling and are my tip for the wooden spoon.

Also on the BBC this weekend you can watch the Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

The Patriots go into the game unbeaten, but the Giants pushed them very close earlier in the season.

New England have so many weapons and such a deep confidence in everything they do that I simply can't look beyond them.

Brian Moore won 64 rugby union caps for England and will be commentating on England v Wales for BBC TV on Saturday.

Brian Moore was speaking to Paul Birch.
