Sandwich rivals Subway and Quiznos are butting heads over a CGM video contest that Quiznos held in which customers were asked to depict how Quiznos is "superior" to Subway. Subway claims that some of the videos were slanderous, which begs the question: Should companies be legally responsible for the content their CGM contestants produce?

While males aged 18-24 are still the most frequent viewers of online video (one-third of them view online video daily), views are on the rise across all demographics, according to BurstMedia's "Online Insights" report. Overall, 70% of U.S. internet users have viewed online video -- including more than half of respondents aged 65 and older.

This podcast -- which features Kara Swisher, co-executive editor of All Things Digital; Law.com bloggers and co-hosts, J. Craig Williams and Robert Ambrogi; and Eric Goldman, Director of the High Tech Law Institute at Santa Clara University School of Law -- covers some of the legalities that surround online social networking sites. Some of the topics discussed include: property rights, defamation, intellectual property, and more.

On the Marketing Profs Daily Fix, Lewis Green discusses some of the inherent risks of blogging in the public domain -- including being the recipient of harsh criticisms and heightened emotions. According to Green, blogging honestly might land you in hot water with some, but as long as the tone is respectful, disagreement between bloggers and readers is all part of being an active participant in a conversational medium.

Here are some links to a few great EBooks on the topics of viral marketing and social media, compiled by the folks at the Valley PR Blog.
