U2 3D (2008) Can Music Bring the World Together?
Darrel Manson
That U2 (and especially Bono in his role as conscience to the developed
nations) use their music to speak messages that need to be heard and
heeded is well worth celebrating. Hope is found in seeing and hearing
so many others voices joining in the message.

How She Move (2008) The Rhythm of Life
Elisabeth Leitch
Within every one of us is a life that was made to move and made to move
those around it. Sometimes it will take us forward. Sometimes it will
take us back. But let us not forget that even when are standing in one
place, that rhythm of life is still inside of us and it is beautiful.

Rambo (2008) More than Right and Wrong
Elisabeth Leitch
Whether what we do to survive fits within our moral code, whether what
we try to do to change the world actually ends up helping, the greater
question is not whether what has been done is it right or wrong, it is
whether there can still be right ahead of whatever may be behind.

New in DVDs, Music, Books, Comix, TV, & Games
Joshua
Mike Furches | 01/22/08 | Movies, On DVD Despite a good number of special features,
there is no new insight provided outside of the director's commentary.
Even here, while I normally enjoy such commentaries, it was like
torture having to see and hear this feature.
Generation Unleashed: Self-titled
More Than A Youth Conference
Jacob Sahms | 01/25/08 | Music Providing worship, as well as the model of
young people in worship leadership positions, the album is sure to lead
well in worship as well as personal reflection.
Friends And Legends
Jacob Sahms | 01/24/08 | Music The Anne Murray Duets disc plays
beautifully. Playing out of Murray's own repertoire, it builds on the
strengths of her partners from each song, whether it's the deceased
Dusty Springfield or the blossoming career of Martina McBride.
Winter Musings
Jacob Sahms | 01/22/08 | Music For the second EP in his four season collection, Jon Foreman released a six-track Winter album. For more on the introduction, you can check out the Fall EP article, as it was released as well. We're still waiting on Spring and Summer!
Punk Rock Live!
Jacob Sahms | 01/22/08 | Music Yellowcard makes good music, comes up with
meaningful lyrics, and says the right things to make the audience feel
connected. And that's never been truer than on Live At The Palms.
The Amber Spyglass
Mark Sommer | 01/26/08 | Books Freedom is an inherent right given by God,
not granted by governments. Countries that do not believe that there is
a God who has given us rights usually end up with governments that
grant very few. Will the Republic of Heaven be any better?
The Death of the New Gods
Maurice Broaddus | 01/24/08 | Comix Religions, pagan or otherwise, are an
attempt to get at some truth, be it of a greater reality, a better way
to live, or ultimately God. If God is sovereign and can use all truths
to point to Him, the various religions of the world must be within His
Providence.
Hulk
Maurice Broaddus | 01/24/08 | Comix The Hulk persona is no more than a
"rage-aholic," someone addicted to anger and rage. Be it some
biochemical switch or the inner undisciplined tantrum-ing two year old
of frustrated want, he simply wishes to rage. A lot.
Supergirl
Maurice Broaddus | 01/24/08 | Comix In Supergirl's case, her search for
identity revolves around the obligations of wearing the "S" insignia.
The example of her cousin looms large, not only in her world, but is a
standard that all heroes measure themselves against.
The Keep
Jesse Johnson | 01/23/08 | Comix Glaeken's desire to see man have a choice
echoes the legacy of Christ. Not that we be forced to see the light,
but that we having a shining example of what true life looks like in
the form of a life devoted to something beyond ourselves.
Punisher War Journal: Vol. 2
Rob Rolfingsmeyer | 01/22/08 | Comix As long as the bad guys are the bad guys
and they can stay relatively faceless and nameless (while we do not
necessarily condone killing them) we are more comfortable with them
gone than we would with someone we actually knew.
The Moment of Truth
Rob Rolfingsmeyer | 01/26/08 | TV Survivor is one thing, Big Brother is
another, but this? This is just poor taste in recording and viewing.
Questions like "Do you wish you were still single?" and "Do you think
you'll still be married in five years?" are absolutely worthless
questions.
Mass Effect
Yo | 01/24/08 | Games Controversy explodes over the graphic sex
portrayed in the game Mass Effect. Funny, I don't remember that. I
remember seeing worse on TV (even on FOX), I remember seeing far worse
in comics and movies, but nothing in this game that would warrant such
outrage. So what's really going on here?
Burnout Paradise
Yo | 01/23/08 | Games Burnout Paradise is the first Burnout built
from the ground-up for the next generation of gaming consoles. It's
missing a few stellar parts from past Burnouts, but its new features
and its refinements of old formulas make Paradise one of the best
Burnouts to date.
