Stocks Finish Wild Day With Strong Surge
The Dow Industrials rallied to close at 12,270.17, a gain of
298.98 points or 2.5 percent, after swinging widely during
the day; at one point the Dow was down more than 300 points.
Other major indexes also gained, including the
technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite, which rose just over 1
percent despite some gloomy earnings reports.
