About The Workshops:

Contract Management for Program Managers and Project Officers - With Special Emphasis on the Responsibilities of the Project Officer / Program Manager in the Acquisition Cycle:

Successful federal government contracting requires that members of the team, both Government and Contractor, are able to work effectively together. Working together effectively requires a basic understanding of the Federal acquisition process, its rules and relationships and individual roles and responsibilities. Mastering this understanding is critical to the success of both Government and Contractor.

Critical Roles and Responsibilities of the Contracting Officer's Representative / Contracting Officer's Technical Representative:

In the Critical Roles and Responsibilities of the Government COR/COTR course, you’ll learn the critical roles, responsibilities and best practices for being an effective COR/COTR. The course covers the COR/COTR’s role throughout the government contracting process—from defining initial requirements to effective post-award performance management. You’ll learn the importance of early risk assessment and how risk mitigation and control influences the pre and post award management of the contract.

Capital Planning & Investment Control Manager's Boot Camp:

This workshop will give you the management and subject matter expert's secrets, tools, tips and exposure to Capital Planning and to the OMB Exhibit 300 form. You will gain insight into the federal requirements, the legislative drivers and enablers, management processes, methodologies, procedures and supplemental documentation.

Advanced COR/COTR Workshop - Handling the Procurement Changes Better

This two-day forum goes above and beyond basic training to focus on current, real-life issues COTRs face under changing procurement rules. The course is organized to give COR/COTRs a direct opportunity to discover better ways of communicating in resolving contractor concerns as well as problems between the program/project offices and the contracts area. Recent contracts will be used to illustrate state-of-the-art topics and concerns presented throughout the Workshop.

Fundamentals of Earned Value Management

This one-day course introduces the fundamental objectives, processes and importance of integrated baseline planning for EVM. The one-day overview is designed to provide the essential aspects of Work Breakdown Structure Development, integrated scheduling to support EVM planning, budgeting concepts, and integration of performance measurement techniques.

GAO's Principles of Federal Appropriations Law Workshop (GAO Red Book in Plain English)

Learn precisely how the Federal government’s budget and spending system works – and how to avoid impasses at each phase in the process, from initial planning through ultimate disbursement.

Introduction to FAR - Federal Acquisition Regulations Overview

The course is taught by knowledgeable, highly skilled instructors who have a wealth of practical experience and know how to present complex material in an easily understandable manner. The key points in the class will be emphasized with practical exercises to reinforce the lessons learned and to provide the students with opportunities to apply the FAR to realistic scenarios.

Advanced Negotiation Skills for Acquisition Professionals

This two-day forum goes above and beyond basic training to focus on current, real-life issues COTRs face under changing procurement rules. The course is organized to give COR/COTRs a direct opportunity to discover better ways of communicating in resolving contractor concerns as well as problems between the program/project offices and the contracts area. Recent contracts will be used to illustrate state-of-the-art topics and concerns presented throughout the Workshop.

Earned Value Management Reporting and Analysis Overview

This one-day executive course introduces the fundamental business practices of project management, utilizing earned value principles and methodologies. The one-day overview is designed to provide an appreciation for the role of EVM within the Federal CPIC Management environment, how it applies to Agency processes and people, and its impact on suppliers to the Agency Programs.

Introduction to FAR - Federal Acquisition Regulations Overview

Introduction to FAR is intended for students interested in gaining a basic understanding of how to most effectively use the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Although the FAR is a very detailed and complex regulation, contracting parties in the federal Government marketplace must know the terms and conditions of the contracts into which they enter. This training workshop will give you an overview of the pertinent and most used sections of the FAR as well as the knowledge to locate and interpret how the clauses relate to each part.
