Anchorage Folk Festival finds community ties through music
There is an entire week in Anchorage devoted to combining performing and learning traditional and original sounds of folk.
The Anchorage Folk Festival, not to be confused with the Alaska Folk Festival held in Juneau, has brought the folk community together since the first festival in 1990.
Edmund Hillary dies WELLINGTON, New Zealand - Sir Edmund Hillary, the unassuming beekeeper who conquered Mount Everest to win renown as one of the 20th century's greatest adventurers, has died, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark announced Friday. He was 88.

Flyball is a team sport for dogs. Essentially, it's a hurdles relay race for Spot. Two teams of four dogs race down a 51-foot stretch to a box with a ball in it.

WASHINGTON - Millions of air travelers may find going through airport security much more complicated this spring, as the Bush administration heads toward a showdown with state governments over post-Sept. 11 rules for new driver's licenses. By May, the dispute could leave millions of people unable to use their licenses to board p***s, but privacy advocates called that a hollow threat by federal officials.

Minnesota man finds his AWOL wallaby CHAMPLIN, Minn. - Dave Carlson says the police in this north-metro suburb thought he was joking when he called to report that his wallaby went AWOL. "And then they wanted to know what a wallaby was," he said. "I explained it was like a kangaroo, but smaller.
